》Leadership Qualities and Practice in Education
The aim of this unit is to explore the links between leadership and management at a strategic
level. Different leadership styles and underlying principles and concepts will be considered.
The unit will also explore how team performance can be evaluated and optimised to realise
strategic business and operational objectives.
》Contemporary Issues in Education: Theory, Policy and Practice
The aim of this unit is to provide learners with a thorough understanding of the link between
currenteducational research and practice by developing understanding of educational
theory, policy and practice.
》Managing Change in an Educational Context
The aim of this unit is to develop learners’ understanding of ways in which educational
leadership and management can provide support during the process of change, developing
leadership in the learners’own educational context.
》Pedagogy and Practice in Education
The aim of this unit is to develop learners’ theoretical and practical grounding in approaches to
teachingand learning, related to subject pedagogic knowledge and pedagogic practices.
》Leading Reflective Practice in Education
The aim is this unit is to develop learners’ understanding of reflective practice in order to
apply this totheir and other’s roles in an educational context, leading planning for personal
development.
》Research Methods in Education
The aim of this unit is to develop learners’ research skills to include understanding different
research approaches, formulation of research proposals, planning research activity,
analysing and interpreting data, andthe relationship between research and evidence-based
practice.
Stage 2:
MBA in Educational Leadership and Management Top Up: Total 60 credits
》Developing Effective Management Systems
This module will enable students to engage in a process of critical evaluation and analysis to focus upon systems for managing information, relationships including staff and stakeholders, communication and reporting. Ensuring knowledge is managed effectively in order to provide comprehensive information that will facilitate efficient leadership and management in relation to staff, stakeholders, finance, facilities and measures for dealing with wider policy issues. This module encourages students to focus on internal and external systems in order to engage in a meaning review of their own organisation whilst drilling down to evaluate procedural systems and the effectiveness of information management.
》Dissertation
The Major Project is central to the Masters award and enables you to demonstrate your ability to synthesise learning from previous modules. You will use this learning as the basis for planning, conducting and writing up a research or work-based project. This is the opportunity for you to demonstrate the ability to raise significant and meaningful questions in relation to your chosen topic and a critical understanding of research methods and their relationship to knowledge.
Progression Pathway
Entry Requirements
- A Postgraduate (Level 7) Diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants without a Level 7 Diploma but holding significant managerial experience will be considered for Advanced Entry on a case-by-case basis.
- Applicants who wish to complete a Postgraduate Diploma to gain entry to the MBA Final Stage
